Why not turn your passion into a profession?
Can you remember all those dreams and goals which have been buried over the years (adulthood and rationality get in the way). Frequently, the job or past time which sparked your enthusiasm and joy when you were 8 years old, still holds a small candle of passion deep inside of you yet, years of growing up, school, work, stuff, responsibility and so on, has reduced it to the tiniest glimmering flicker – almost forgotten. Continue reading “Why not turn your passion into a profession?”
What your work really gives you? Money? Identity? Purpose ?
So that was the question I heard recently during a meeting with a firm of HR, Outplacement (that’s a nice word for redundancy) and At Retirement a specialists – a business who support people in career transition, and one who I have worked with for many years as their dedicated IFA. Pushed for time – maybe take a step back

One of the biggest benefits of seeing a financial adviser is also one of the most overlooked …
Let me take you by the hand….
Gone (or hopefully are gone) are the days of sitting with a financial adviser, waiting for them to unveil a life-changing financial product. The modern adviser, not only looks at your whole financial picture, but aims to take the time to listen to your anxieties, worries, concerns, and take the time to coach you and your family towards what it is you want to achieve – so maybe after all, that is something which is life-changing. Continue reading “One of the biggest benefits of seeing a financial adviser is also one of the most overlooked …”
The day I realised Financial Planning could be an episode of Black Mirror
Recently, we stumbled across Black Mirror on Netflix. For those who haven’t watched it, it is a little like Tales of the Unexpected, crossed with The Twilight Zone, and a sneak preview into the secret rooms (if they exist) of Google and Facebook. It takes what technology / values / elements of society we already have, and moves it on just one step further – very thought provoking. How are children financially educated, and is that the most effective way?
Our core belief at Serenity, is to enable people to have a rewarding, fulfilling life, without having to constantly be on edge about their money. A good financial plan and structure spills over in abundance into our lives, creating the freedom to appreciate and follow our dreams. By the same measure, a poor financial plan (none at all) leaves us on a constant highway of trouble truck after worry wagon heading in our direction. Continue reading “How are children financially educated, and is that the most effective way?”

The Energy Exchange
People come along at just the right time – when the stars align, the ley lines co-ordinate, or it is just pure luck – who knows but it happens. Continue reading “The Energy Exchange”
Sitting on the harbour in Penzance
Several years ago (I think it was 12th September 2014), I was sat on the harbour in Penzance with my pal Terry Mullins (actually, we were sat in the car in the Harbour car park, but that doesn’t conjure up the same image does it). We were chatting about life, about change, and about how I was through aspects of my own life environment (both personally and professionally). “It’s like the bucket of crabs” he said – and yes, the analogy fitted perfectly to most of our battles with change.
